What we offer

Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Our canteen operates to provide a wide range of tasty and nutritious food during recess and lunchtime.

The ordering of lunches may occur before school and orders should be placed before 10.50am. Download the Canteen Menu 2020

Also available at the canteen is a range of uniform components and stationery.

Our canteen is managed by the school, has a supervisor and is staffed by volunteers. The students are expected to be courteous and considerate to the helpers.

Any assistance parents can provide will be gratefully received contact the school to volunteer.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

Learn more about the NSW Department of Education’s School Uniform Policy.

We ask all parents to send their children to school neatly dressed in correct uniform. Every student should take pride in their personal appearance and the wearing of school uniform is an important step in developing a good school spirit.

The following are NOT acceptable dress standards for Bellingen High School:

  • ripped clothing
  • singlets, string shoulder tops as shirts, sleeveless or collarless shirts
  • low cut necklines or armholes, blouses or shirts that are indecent in a school environment
  • midriff tops
  • slogans or pictures excepting brand names (as in small pocket sized logo)
  • no underwear as outerwear (eg petticoats)
  • hoodies
  • shorts that are too short
  • sandals, crocs, thongs, high heels, ugg boots, slippers etc.

Students wearing unacceptable dress will be asked to change using school clothing or go home.

School facilities

While at school, students are invited to use the extensive facilities available to them. These include:

Basketball courts

Courts are available during recesses and lunch.

Drama centre

An air-conditioned, tiered learning centre is the focal point for drama teaching in the school. Many highly successful graduates of the school's drama classes have enjoyed applying the skills learned in the wider community and in their vocations.

Handball courts

Courts provide a popular pastime on the designated concrete squares around the school.

Library

A very comprehensive collection of books and e-resources is available for student use and borrowing. Teaching staff co-operatively plan and teach with the Teacher Librarian.  Internet access is available throughout the library for research purposes and our study rooms are available for distance education, senior students and small group studies.

Multipurpose centre - Bob Stockton Hall

Equipped with an air-conditioned indoor basketball court, gymnasium facilities, stage, sound system and lighting, the MPC is often a focus for assemblies, performances, sporting activities such as futsal and PE lessons. Students may have access with permission (and supervision) from the PE staff.

Music facilities

Excellent facilities include a soundproofed rehearsal room, music laboratory and many instruments. Previous successes with instrumental (rock, jazz and big bands) and vocal groups place the school as a leader in music education in the area.

Oval

Available for training during recess and lunch.

Videoconferences

Videoconference facilities are hosted by the library.
